Movie Review- Bazodee

Last week Saturday I made the trek to Movietowne to experience Machel Montano’s movie Bazodee. I went in with no expectations, an open mind and swore to myself that I would view it objectively… that lasted all of five minutes.

Now….

Your opinion of Bazodee will be influenced by what you think the movie is supposed to do, or be, or represent. For this I will use a simple scoring system, with a scale of 1 to 10, with:  1 = It Real Fail and 10 = It Real Sell Off! :

      1. A promotion device for Machel Montano the Musician = 7
      2. A promotion device for Machel Montano the Actor= 3
      3.  A promotion device of Trinidad and Tobago = 4
      4.  A promotion device of Soca Music = 6
      5.  An advancement for the Local TT Film Industry = 6
      6.  A quality product that can compete Internationally= 2
      7.  A well developed and interesting story line = 3
      8.  A well edited, tied together story with no loose ends= 4
      9.  Making the audience wine in their seats = 5
    10. Overall entertainment factor= 5

Total Mean Score= 4.5 = Wait for the DVD

Key: 1- 3= Wait for Cable;
          4- 6= Wait for the DVD;
          7- 9= See it in Cinema;
             10= Find the biggest baddest screen as soon as possible!

Some after thoughts:
  • 1.       I am curious to see IF and how Creative TT through Film TT, use this movie as leverage to advance the local Film Industry.
  • 2.       Bazodee was able to attract a number of local sponsors and I wonder if that had more to do with a shift in corporate thinking about the film industry, or because it was a Machel Montano project.
  • 3.       I wonder if Film TT is in touch with the film’s sponsors to ascertain why they supported Bazodee and seek to provide those same/similar opportunities via other films for corporate TT.

Bazodee..... coming to a country near you!

    1. It is a must see... even if it is to get an idea of where the industry currently stands. The Trinidad and Tobago Film Festival also has two must see locally produced films: Play The Devil and The Cutlass. Check it out!
